Seedance 1.0 Lite is the budget-friendly entry in ByteDance's Seedance family, released in June 2025. It targets rapid prototyping and high-volume workflows where cost and turnaround matter more than peak fidelity. The model supports both text-to-video and image-to-video at resolutions from 480p to 1080p, with fixed 5- or 10-second durations. There is no audio generation — output is video only.
Social media shorts and quick-turnaround content. Storyboard previews and concept validation before committing to a higher-tier model. Batch generation for A/B testing thumbnails or ad creatives. Image-to-video conversion for animating product stills or illustrations.
All parameters are passed in the input object of the run request.
| Parameter | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| prompt | Yes | Text description (1–10000 chars) |
| aspect_ratio | No | Default 16:9. Options: 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 1:1, 21:9 |
| resolution | No | Default 720p. Options: 480p, 720p, 1080p |
| duration | No | Default 5. Options: 5s, 10s |
| image_urls | No | Source image (max 1, max 10 MB) for image-to-video |
Lite works best with clear, direct descriptions. Put the main subject and its action in the first sentence — "A cat leaping off a shelf" outperforms "In a cozy room, there is a cat that eventually jumps."
With only 5- or 10-second clips and no multi-shot support, focus each prompt on one continuous action rather than describing a sequence of events.
Lite costs less per generation and supports 480p (which Pro does not), but produces lower-fidelity output. Pro offers sharper detail and handles multi-shot transitions better.
Yes. Provide a single image via image_urls and the model animates from that frame. When an image is provided, the aspect ratio is derived from the source image rather than the aspect_ratio parameter.
No. Audio generation was introduced in Seedance 1.5 Pro. Use that model or Seedance 2.0 if you need sound.
